If you have followed the First Time Installation Issues or other troubleshooting steps and still can not scan images it is possible that the hardware driver has a problem. To check this you must go to your Hardware Device Manager

Using Device Manager, you can view and update the device‌ drivers installed on your computer, check to see if hardware is working properly, and modify hardware settings. For more information, see Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly.

1A) Accessing the Hardware device Manager on Windows 7:

  • Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager.‌ If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation

see also this article on the Windows Web Site: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-SG/windows7/Open-Device-Manager

1B) Accessing the Hardware device Manager on Windows Vista:

    • Click on Start and then Control Panel.
    • Click on the System and Maintenance link.

Note: If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simply double-click on the Administrative Tools icon and skip the next step.

    • In the System and Maintenance window, click on the Administrative Tools link near the bottom of the window.
    • In the Administrative Tools window, double-click on the Computer Management icon.
    • When the Computer Management utility opens, click on Device Manager on the left side of the window, located toward the bottom of the list under the System Tools heading.

Device Manager should now appear on the right side of the Computer Management window.

Note: If you don't see Device Manager listed, you may need to click on the |> next to System Tools.

2) NEXT After you have accessed the Device Manager Window:

Your device Manager should like similar to this:

device manager

Now look under Imaging devices and check to make sure that there is an icon for OVT Scanner.

IF you DO NOT see this icon then unplug your PhotoSaver and plug it in again-- leave the Device Manager Window open and see if the icon appears.

IF you still do not see the OVT Icon then try another USB port on your computer and see if the icon appears.

IF the icon has a Warning exclamation point next to it then double click the icon to bring up the OVT Scanner properties

OVT Scanner Properties

From the OVT Scanner properties window FIRST click on the button UPDATE DRIVER-- this will attempt to reinstall the drivers.

IF the update process Fails then click on UNINSTALL and remove the driver from your system.

After uninstall

  • Disconnect the PhotoSaver
  • Restart your computer
  • UNINSTALL and Reinstall the drivers that are located on this page of the site.

IF this still does not solve your problem then please CONTACT OUR SUPPORT TEAM with the following information about your computer:
